چکیده

Few Mode Fibers (FMF) and Space DivisionMultiplexing (SDM) are an attractive solution to offer high capacity in optical networks. Although transmission along FMF presents several issues mainly due the cross-talk among modes, use of Multiple Input Output (MIMO) coherent receivers permits limit impact such physical impairment. However, complexity MIMO is not negligible (especially with a large number modes) spatial modes must cover same path, thus limiting network flexibility, e.g., routing different paths admitted. In this paper we exploit concept Mode-Group Division Multiplexing (MGDM) investigate architecture provisioning supporting MGDM. Modes divided groups: within group co-routed received reduced-complexity receiver, while groups can be routed paths. Different node architectures MGDM presented taking account state-of-the-art components devices, even commercially available on market. A quality (QoT) model also accounting inter mode crosstalk, that cannot neglected reach evaluation. QoT exploited by proposed connection scheme for Simulations carried out metro/rural scenarios link span lengths. show throughput increase receivers.

Diversity-multiplexing tradeoff in mode-division multiplexing.

The capacity of mode-division multiplexing (MDM) systems is limited, for a given outage probability, by mode-dependent loss (MDL) and gain. Modal degrees of freedom may be exploited to increase transmission rate (multiplexing gain) or lower outage probability (diversity gain), but there is a fundamental tradeoff between the achievable multiplexing and diversity gains. In this Letter, we present...

High Speed Data Transmission over GI-MMF Using Mode Group Division Multiplexing

— We transmitted 4x28 Gbit/s over 5-km standard GI-MMF using four different mode groups in combination with direct detection and on-off-keying format (OOK). Due to the square-law detection in the receiver MIMO processing is not effective. Therefore proper mode group selective multiplexing and de-multiplexing is essential.

60-Gb/s Mode Division Multiplexing and Wavelength Division Multiplexing in Si Multimode Waveguides

A silicon photonic waveguide system with mode-division and wavelength-division-multiplexing capabilities is demonstrated. Error-free (BER < 10−12) data transmission of 2 modal channels and 3wavelengths operating with aggregate bandwidth of 60-Gb/s is realized. This work motivates future bandwidth scalability of silicon photonic interconnects.

An Efficient Hierarchical Modulation based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmission Scheme for Digital Video Broadcasting

Due to the increase of users the efficient usage of spectrum plays an important role in digital terrestrial television networks. In digital video broadcasting, local and global content are transmitted by single frequency network and multifrequency network respectively. Multifrequency network support transmission of global content and it consumes large spectrum. Similarly local content are well ...
